Mary Luz Mejia:
ood enthusiast, writer (journalist by training),
researcher, intrepid traveler and Gemini-nominated food TV producer/director begins to cover it. Mary Luz Mejia has penned hundreds of food articles, culinary profiles, food celebrity interviews and cultural explorations into the foods we eat and why we love them. You can read her work in enRoute, Toronto Life, Canadian Living.com, Edible Toronto, goodfoodrev.com and Gremolata to name a few. She currently ghost writes for two top Canadian chefs and has written innumerable press releases for three publicists throughout Canada while helping behind the scenes with various media campaigns. Her food TV work includes producing/directing “Street Eats” on Sun TV, the Food Network Canada’s “At the Table With..” and Corus Entertainment’s “Fearless in the Kitchen” with Canadian celebrity chef Christine Cushing. She has also been called “one of Toronto’s most dedicated and passionate food journalists” by Saveur Magazine’s editor-in-chief James Oseland. Her work-in-progress is to master iconic Latin American dishes, one plate at a time.
A lawyer by training, Mario has spent the past six years providing writing and editing services to various publicists and independent writers across Canada, including editing the business magazine Empower. A long-time companion on many of Mary Luz's food odysseys, Mario has gained valuable insights into the food industry and has met culinary titans along the way. Along with planning food events (CFRA Show 2008, OLA- Of Latin America culinary event and Chef Pilar Cabrera Arroyo's visit to Toronto 2009), Mario has also spent the better part of a decade project managing large-scale technology projects and e-commerce content development. His organizational experience and keen attention to detail have proven invaluable in conceptualizing, organizing and coordinating special events and product launches. He has a knack for crafting creative, editor-grabbing headlines and incidentally, goes weak at the knees at the mention of charcuterie and artisanal cheeses.
